Spring Awakening: 5 Ways Yoga Helps You Reset for the Season
Cyndy Sotomayor, MBA, CYT200 • April 1, 2025

Spring is here, friend! 🌸 And if you’re anything like me, this season has you craving a fresh start—longer days, lighter energy, and a serious shake-off-the-winter-blues kind of reset.

The best way to step into spring feeling refreshed, energized, and totally aligned? Yoga.

Think of it like spring cleaning for your body and mind. Ready to ditch the sluggishness and breathe in some new energy? Let’s do it. Here are five simple ways yoga can help you hit the reset button this season.

1. Detox & Refresh with Twists

Spring cleaning isn’t just for your closet—your body needs it too! Twisting postures like Seated Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana) and Revolved Chair (Parivrtta Utkatasana) help stimulate digestion, support detoxification, and wake up your whole system. So if winter left you feeling a little blah, these poses will help you feel lighter and more energized.

2. Boost Energy with Heart-Openers

Let’s talk about backbends. Poses like Cobra (Bhujangasana), Camel (Ustrasana), and Bridge (Setu Bandhasana) open up your heart, boost circulation, and give you that “I’m ready to take on the world” energy. If you’ve been feeling a little closed off, these poses will help you step into spring with confidence and vitality.

3. Get Clear with Breathwork

New season, fresh perspective. Breathwork (pranayama) techniques like alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) help clear mental fog, reduce stress, and give you a reset in just a few minutes. It’s like hitting “refresh” on your brain—who doesn’t need that?

4. Get Grounded with Strong, Centering Poses

Spring is exciting (hello, new goals and new beginnings!), but it can also feel a little chaotic. That’s where grounding postures like Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II), Tree Pose (Vrksasana), and Garland Pose (Malasana) come in. These poses help you feel steady and strong—so no matter what’s changing around you, you stay rooted.

5. Reset & Restore with Deep Relaxation

Sometimes the best way to refresh is to slow down. Restorative yoga poses like Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani) and Reclining Butterfly (Supta Baddha Konasana) help your nervous system exhale so you can truly reset. Give yourself permission to rest, recharge, and receive all the goodness this season has to offer.
