What to Pack for Beach Yoga (and What to Skip)

There’s nothing quite like yoga by the ocean.

The sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun, and the grounding of the sand—it’s pure magic. But if you’ve never done beach yoga before, it can be tough to know what to bring (and what to leave at home).
Here’s my go-to packing list for beach yoga sessions that keep you feeling supported, not stressed.
✅ Pack These Essentials:
- Large beach towel or yoga mat (bonus points if it's sand-resistant)
- Water bottle (hydration is key!)
- Sunscreen + lip balm (SPF 30 or higher)
- Light layers (a cover-up or hoodie for early morning chill)
- Sunglasses or a brimmed hat
- Bug spray (if you’re practicing early or late)
- Comfortable, body-loving clothes that let you move and breathe
❌ Skip These:
- Thin yoga mats (they sink in the sand)
- Extra props (unless you're doing a longer session)
- Heavy bags or purses
- Loud accessories (bracelets, earrings)
- Worrying about what you look like—just come as you are!
🌊 Bonus tip: Leave your expectations at the shoreline. Beach yoga is about connection, not perfection.
